Obituary of Antonio D'Elia

D'ELIA, Antonio "Tony"- April 1, 1928-March 28, 2011 With heavy hearts the family announces the passing of Antonio (Tony) D'Elia at the St. Catharines General Hospital in his 83rd year. Antonio joins his beloved wife Antonietta (Oct. 21, 2010), his children Nunziata and Vincenzo and his sister Concetta. Antonio leaves his loving children Lillian (Angelo), Gino, Carmella, Mario (Deanna) and Peter (Angela). He was the adored Nonno of Sandra, Bradley, Nathan, Ashley, Alexander and Lucas. Cherished brother of Marianna (Michele) of Italy, Michele (Libera) and Giovanni (Raffaela). Antonio is survived by many loving nieces, nephews, sisters in law and brothers in law, and relatives both in Canada and in Italy. Tony was a shoemaker, painter, cabinetmaker, handyman and gardener, and could always be found working in his garage. He left his mark with family, friends and neighbours by always being available to fix, install, repair or make things for them. He was a lifetime member of Club Roma and played cards at the Seniors Club. Family and friends will be received at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton Street on Wednesday, March 30th from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at St. Alfred's Catholic Church on Thursday, March 31st at 9:30 am. Entombment to follow in Victoria Lawn Cemetery-Mausoleum. Vigil Prayers for Antonio will be recited in the funeral home on Wednesday at 3pm. If so desired, donations made to the Rankin Cancer Run or Wellspring Niagara would be appreciated by his family.
