Obituary of Mary McMahon

McMahon, Mary Helen (nee Jakubec) - Passed away peacefully in the presence of her family on Wednesday June 12, 2013 at the Loyalist Retirement Home at the age of 86. Loving wife to Jim for over 67 years. Mother hen to Wayne (Kathryn) of Fort Myers, Florida, Jim (Barbara), Bob (Pam) of Fort Erie, Patti Booth (Julian) of Niagara Falls, Donna Snider (Barry), and Tom (Karen). Cherished Gramma to David (Raja) of San Diego, California, Karen of Kelowna, B.C., Bruce (Rachel) of Toronto, Jim (Erin) of Belleville, Mary - Ellen (Mike) of Thorold, Jodi (Greg) New of Thorold, Erin (Thies) Taubenbeck of Thorold, Rob ((Kelly), Becky (Dan) of Beamsville, Lori (Kevin) Stockman of Thorold, Alyson (George) Campeau, Carly (Brandon) Snider of Brockville, Jenny Snider, Kimberly Snider, Dylan, Jessica, and Conner. Devoted Great Gramma of Chase, Ella, Jenna, Madelynne, Callum, Lauryn, Matthew, Hailey, Aliana, Braeden, Griffin, Taylor and Samantha. Also survived by many nieces and nephews in the United States and Canada. Predeceased by her brother John (1997). The world lost one of a kind today. The sweetest, kindest, strongest and most loyal and devoted grandmother,mother, and wife that ever walked the earth.....God bless you, Grandma, we love you so much and you will have a place in all of our hearts forever. Mary enjoyed making fresh baked cookies, hand knit sweaters, wedding dances and homemade macaroni and cheese. So many of our best memories are wrapped up in Grandma, a run around the clothes line with the cousins, smelling the lilacs from a neighbour's yard, watching her hands work fast and furiously on her latest Fair Isle sweater for one of the grandkids, eating a cookie cane religiously because it isn't Christmas unless you do , watching the size 6's polka across the dance floor to celebrate the marriage of her grandchild, having her lecture us about how Nivea is the best skin care out there. Family will receive friends at the George Darte Funeral Home, 585 Carlton Street on Saturday from 11:30am till 1:30pm. Funeral Service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 1:30pm. Cremation has taken place. Memorial donations may be made to Parkinsons Society in Mary's honour.
