Obituary of Allison Bennett Stevenson
Stevenson, Dr. Allison Bennett "Steve" - Peacefully on July 6, 2013 at the age of 83, with his family around him. Beloved husband of Yvonne "Bonnie" (nee Halsey) for 51 years. Dear father of the late Derek, daughter Amy (Dave), and son Kent. Cherished grandfather of Nathaniel Derek Broughton. Steve was born in New Glasgow, Prince Edward Island on September 17, 1929. Although he left for "away" long ago, his return to P.E.I. was always going "home." Steve was employed by Agriculture Canada as an entomologist for 37 years, retiring from Vineland Research Station. He was a member (and Past President) of the Niagara Torch Club. He skated with the St. Catharines Skating Club and hiked with the Niagara Bruce Trail Club until he was 81. Steve had a life long passion for reading, gardening and travel, before his illness, hiking in Portugal, Italy, England and Scotland.
Family will receive friends at the George Darte Funeral Home, 585 Carlton Street on Tuesday between 2-4 and 7-9pm. Cremation has taken place. Funeral Service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Wednesday at 1pm. Inurnment will take place at a later date at Victoria Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation or The Bruce Trail would be appreciated by the family.
