Obituary of Anica Strojin

STROJIN, Anica Passed away peacefully with family by her side on Monday, September 2nd, 2013 at the age of 95. Beloved wife of the late Frank (1980). Cherished mother of Anny (Alan) Strojin and Lydia (Tom) Strojin. Much loved grandmother of Roseanna, Lydia, Natasha, Joshua, Emily, Kristina, Alana and Angelina. Dear aunt of her nephew August (Maria) Selak from Girard, Ohio, and her nieces Josi and Fani, who reside in Slovenia. Anica was the 16th of 17 children, and the last remaining member of her immediate family. Anica was both a professional cook and seamstress. She also loved to read. Anica was a member of her Slovenian community at Lipa Park. She was also a devout member of St. Julia's Roman Catholic Church, and her faith was always important to her. Anica was like a second mother to her 8 grandchildren, the loves of her life. Special thanks to the staff at Heidehof for their kindness and compassion. Family and friends will be received at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton St., St. Catharines on Wednesday, September 4th from 7-9 p.m. and Thursday, September 5th from 6-9 p.m. Vigil prayers will be held in the funeral home on Thursday night. A Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at St. Julia's Roman Catholic Church, 251 Glenridge Avenue, St. Catharines on Friday, September 6th at 10 a.m. Interment to follow at Victoria Lawn Cemetery. Mass cards to St. Julia's Roman Catholic Church may be made as an expression of sympathy.
