Obituary of Neville Collison
COLLISON, Neville: WWII Veteran, Royal Engineers - Peacefully at home with family at his side on Thursday, October 3rd, 2013, shortly after celebrating his 90th birthday. Everloving husband of the late Vera Rose Peters for 69 wonderful years. Cherished father of Victor (Dianna) Collison, Barbara ( the late Patrick) Bowles, Janice Wright (Ron) and Annette (Bobby) Sclater. Loving Grandad of Hannah, Fleur, Andrew (Kara), the late Jason, Adam, Melissa, Emily, Brent, Clare and Ben. Great Grandad of Heron and Arianna. Special brother of Sylvia (Richard) Spoore. Uncle of Aileen. Neville was born in Nottingham, England. He served in the British Army, Dorset Regiment from 1937-1940 and Royal Engineers 1940-1947. Neville was stationed in North Africa, the Gulf and India. After the war, Neville worked at Rolls Royce and the Royal Ordinance Factory. He emigrated to Canada in 1970, where he completed his career with Provincial Crane. Neville was very proud to have been part of the Skydome roof build. He was an avid fisherman, who enjoyed holidays in Virginia and Florida. Neville will be always be remembered for his champion chrysanthemums, placing "Best in Show" in the Royal Flower Shows. The family wish to extend a sincere thank you to Drs. Lucey, Arvinte and Broski for their extraordinary care and compassion. Cremation has taken place. The family will receive visitors at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton Street, St. Catharines on Thursday, October 10th from 6-8p.m. A Celebration of Neville's Life will take place on Friday, October 11th at 11a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Memorial donations to Hotel Dieu Shaver Hospital or a charity of choice would be appreciated by the family.
