Obituary of John Kiess

Kiess, John - Passed peacefully in his sleep on October 30, 2013 at Hospice Niagara at the age of 80 years. Loving husband to Trudy for 60 years. Beloved father of Lil Sawyer (Quinn Saltarelli), and Rick (Sheila). Proud Opi of Justin (Jacqui) Sawyer, Adam (Jenn), Krystal, Jamie, and Great Opi to Sarah Sawyer. Cherished brother to Frida Konrad, goddaughter Rosie (Carlo) Bisaro and many family members. Predeceased by his brother Alex, sister Ida, Renata and brother-in-law Gunther. John worked at Niagara Structural Steel for over 30 years, President of Canadian Pigeon Racing Association and member of Club Heidelberg. He was a man of strong faith and character who was devoted to his family. Family will receive friends at the George Darte Funeral Home, 585 Carlton Street on Sunday between 7-9pm and Monday from 11am-1pm. Funeral Service will be held on Monday at 2pm at Grace Lutheran Church, 213 Linwell Road with burial to follow at Victoria Lawn Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice Niagara or Community Living - Port Colborne in John's honour.
