Obituary of Ryszard Lodyga

LODYGA, Ryszard (Richard) Peacefully with his loving family by his side, Ryszard passed away on Tuesday, November 5, 2013, at the St. Catharines General Hospital, at the age of 63. He was a man of courage and a cheerful attitude that was an inspiration to his family. Beloved husband for 38 years to Marianna, loving father to Monika and Martin (Marina). He will be deeply missed by his siblings Kazimierz, Stanislawa, Stanislaw and Henryk in Poland. For many years Ryszard worked at ITT AMICO/AFFINA on Berryman Ave. where he fondly remembered his many friendships. He was a capable and resourceful handyman, a helpful and caring friend. He always enjoyed the faithful company of his four-legged buddies, cat ‘Noodle’ and Jack Russell ‘Cookie’. Ryszard’s family would like to thank all the Nurses and Staff of the Palliative Care/Oncology, as well as the Medical/Nephrology Unit at the St. Catharines General Hospital for their care and compassion during his time with them. Also a very special thanks to Jan from CCAC for her extraordinary heart and care. Ryszard is resting at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton St. Visitation at the funeral home will be held on Thursday, November 7, 2013 from 6-9 p.m. Rosary and Vigil Prayers will take place at 7 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 5 Oblate St., on Friday, November 8, 2013 at 10 a.m. Burial to follow Mass, at Victoria Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
