Elsie will be fondly remembered by her in-laws Ken and Elsie Kaufman of Kitchener, Doug and Lorry Kaufman of Brampton, Catherine Butler of Toronto, Joan and John Douglas of Stratford and Sandra Kaufman of Toronto, and by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Elsie had a most kind and generous spirit devoted to the care and well being of her family and friends. Elsie and Jim moved to St. Catharines from Kitchener in the early 50’s where she continued to raise her growing family. They joined Christ Lutheran Church where Elsie quickly involved herself in various women’s groups. One of her favorite activities was embroidering baptismal cloths numbering in the hundreds when she finally retired. She enjoyed her summer flower gardens. She loved reading, and always enjoyed a sit down with the Toronto Globe and Mail. There wasn’t an artistic activity that she could not master. From sewing, to knitting, to calligraphy and needlepoint she was a self taught master. She lived her life full of love for her family and friends and will always be remembered by those whose lives she touched with grace, beauty, kindness and laughter. The family extends a heartfelt thank you to everyone who cared for Elsie over the years. Special thanks to Dr. Roger Rose, Dr. Hyung Kim, Scott Gibson, NHS – St. Catharines site staff and to the staff of Royal Henley Retirement Residence. Family will receive friends at Christ Lutheran Church, 140 Russell Avenue on Saturday at 10am with the Funeral Service to celebrate Elsie’s life at 11am. Entombment to follow at Victoria Lawn Cemetery. In kindness, donations may be made in Elsie’s memory to Community Care, St. Catharines General Hospital Building Fund or Salvation Army.
