Obituary of Alfred Königshaus
KÖNIGSHAUS, Alfred
December 31st, 1923 - November 25, 2013
Passed away peacefully at the St. Catharines Hospital on November 25, 2013 in his 90th year. Survived by his loving wife and best friend of 58 years, Donna (nee Ruscio). Cherished father to his five children, Michael (Colleen), Gregory (Elizabeth), Paul (Judy), Mary Jane (Gary) Mundell, and Donna (Donald) Knowles. Papa was blessed with 10 grandchildren, Jason, Michelle, Ryan, David, Alex, and Brooke Königshaus, Devlin and Bronwyn Mundell, Reilly and Kathryn Knowles and his great grandchild Lauren Königshaus. Alfred is survived by his sister Maria and brother Rudolph. Alfred is predeceased by his parents Bernardt and Anna. Also predeceased by his brothers Bernardt, Guenter, George, Vernor, Richard and Hans, sisters Gertrude, Eugenie, and Gerda.
Alfred was an employee of GM, retiring in 1988. He was a 4th Degree member with the Knights of Columbus, past Grand Knight (1394) and a Eucharistic Minister at St. Alfred’s Parish. He was also a member of the Polish Second Corp and the British 8th Army. The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to the March of Dimes, Revera and CCAC for the care and compassion given to Alfred.
In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place. Family will receive friends at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton Street, St. Catharines on Thursday, November 28th from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Vigil Prayers will be recited in the funeral home on Thursday at 8 p.m. A private family interment will take place at Victoria Lawn Cemetery. Memorial donations to a charity of choice may be made in Alf's honour.
