Obituary of Marion Adele Mason (Nee Wilson)

MASON, Marion Adele - Passed peacefully away at the Tabor Manor in St. Catharines at the age of 87. Loving and cherished wife of Donald Mason for 64 years and devoted mother of Suzanne Mason and Marilyn Mason (Todd). She will also be missed by her sister Phyllis Alderson, brothers Howard (Ophelia) and Ross Wilson, grandchildren Angela (Jon), Delia, Danny, David (Kristine) and Matt, great-grandchildren Max and Russell and her beloved Bichons Benjamin and Oliver. Marion moved to St. Catharines from Toronto with Don in 1953 when he opened Mason Pharmacy on Geneva St. She was an exceptional mother to Suzanne and Marilyn and fondly remembered by their friends for all the wonderful parties she organized and the backyard skating rink that was enjoyed by all of the neighbourhood children. 62 Else St. – where she and Don spent 55 years – was such a happy home filled with laughter, friendship, three litters of puppies, and the best brownies anyone ever tasted. Marion loved her island in the sun – Barbados – and made over 30 trips with Don, often inviting her children and grandchildren. They will cherish these memories forever. The family is very grateful for the loving and compassionate care Marion received from the staff at the Tabor Manor nursing home during her last few months of life. In keeping with Marion’s wishes, there will be no funeral service. Cremation has taken place. The family will hold a private gathering at a later date. Her final resting place will be with her mother Della Wilson and many other ancestors in the small rural cemetery in Churchville, near where she grew up.
