Obituary of Mary Myrtle Goode

GOODE, Mary (nee Mathewson) After a valiant fight with cancer, Mary passed away on December 31st with her cherished husband of 65 years Reg and children Diane (Gilles) Picard, Ken (Darlene) and Donna (Rocky) Venditti by her bedside. She chose her time to leave us and did so on the last day of the year so she could teach her loving family and all of us one last life lesson. Mary's plan was to make us realize that life is fragile, sudden and sometimes much shorter than it seems. There may not be a tomorrow, not for everyone. Right now, someone on earth is planning something for tomorrow without realizing they will not be there. So Mary would say, spend your time wisely today and pause long enough to appreciate friends and family. Every moment is a gift. Adored grandmother of Carey (Steve) Bridges, Michael (Kayla) Reece, Tyler (Yuki) Goode, Tanner Goode, Nicole Venditti and Taylor Venditti. Cherished great grandmother of Brady, Eric and Emma Bridges, Keeran and Patrick Reece. Survived by her brother Keith (Ada) Mathewson and sister Jean (the late Howard) Starbuck and her many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her 8 siblings. Mary was an avid Thorold Black Hawks fan and followed them on Point Streak even through her illness. She was a 20 year volunteer with the Ladies Auxiliary at Linhaven Home and an avid knitter. In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place. Mary's family will receive visitors at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton Street, St. Catharines on Friday, January 3rd from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. A Memorial Service will take place on Saturday, January 4th at 11am in the funeral home chapel. There will be a private family inurnment at a later date. If desired, memorial donations to the Ladies Auxiliary at Linhaven Home would be appreciated by the family.
