Obituary of Kathryn Barzyk

BARZYK, Kathryn Passed away on Monday, March 10th, 2014 at Linhaven Home for the Aged in her 89th year. Beloved wife of the late Joseph (1986). Cherished mom of Aida (Chris) Rudnik, Fred (Gabrielle Zboril) and Mary (Rodney) Barzyk-Livingston. Much loved babcia of Joseph and Ella. Dear sister of Zuta (Reinart) Schiwon. Kathryn will also be fondly missed by her nieces and many close friends. Kathryn had a passion for community work. She served as president for the Ladies' Auxiliary Polish Veterans' Branch 418 for many years. She was principal and teacher at the Maria Konopnicka Saturday Polish School for over 20 years, and will be remembered fondly by her former students. Kathryn was dedicated to the community and was instrumental in moving projects forward. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff at Linhaven for their care and compassion. Family and friends will be received at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton Street, St. Catharines on Wednesday, March 12th from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Rosary will be recited on Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the funeral home. A Funeral Liturgy will take place at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 5 Oblate St, St. Catharines on Thursday, March 13th at 11:30 a.m. Interment to follow at Victoria Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Linhaven Nursing Home in support of Alzheimer's Social Rehabilitation would be appreciated by the family.
