Obituary of Anne Helen Kusyj

KUSYJ, Anne Helen (nee Wlasy) In loving memory of Anne, who peacefully passed away on Saturday, March 29, 2014 at the age of 80. Wife of the late George Kusyj (1996). Loving mother of George (partner Kenna) of Victoria, BC and Alexander "Zandy" (Christine) of St. Catharines. Baba of Julie (Bjorn), George Jr. of Yellowknife, and Larissa (Alec) of Sudbury. Loving sister of Mary (John) Stefura of Sudbury. Dear aunt of Michael (the late Jan) of Buffalo, Vladimira (Roman) of Los Angeles, Marcia (Spencer) of Boston and great aunt to Matthew, Colin and Michael. Anne was predeceased by her parents John and Anne Wlasy, also by her long time companion Wally Hamm. Born in Sudbury, Anne moved to St. Catharines and was a Facer Street Post Mistress for many years during which time she welcomed and supported immigrants from Ukraine. Anne will be fondly remembered by family and friends for her years of dedication and hard work at Kusyj's Variety and for being a dog lover, especially of Muffin and Beala. A special thank you to the staff on the 3rd floor at the St. Catharines General Hospital and to Dr. Lee for her special care. In accordance with Anne's wishes, cremation has taken place. There will be a private memorial service held at a later date with interment in the family plot at Victoria Lawn Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, donations in memory of Anne may be given to the Arthritis Society or to the Canadian Cancer Society.
