Obituary of Fred Anthony Langelaan
LANGELAAN, Fred
Passed away peacefully at home on April 30, 2014 at the age of 77, surrounded by his family. He will be forever missed by his loving wife of 50 years, Willy (nee DeWolff). Fred was a proud father to David (Shari), Karen (Gino) Battistone, Jeff (Debbie), Brenda and Amanda and a special grandfather to Stephen (Alicia), Bryan (Megan), Robert, Anthony (Brettly), Andrew (Amy), Amberly, Jenna, Alex, Jessica, Joshua, Jacob and Papa to Laila. Fred is predeceased by sister Margaret Sneek, brother Henry, sister-in-law Charlene Langelaan and brother-in-law Frank DeWolff. He is survived by his brothers Nick (Theresa), Tony (Laura), Hugh (Jackie) and Bill (Linda) and by his sister Willy (Robert) Bernais and by his in-laws Herman (Christine) DeWolff, Jane (Willie) Kurta, Lucy (Russell) Blair, Joe Sneek, Ann Langelaan and Brenda DeWolff.
Fred's outgoing demeanor and willingness to work hard made him a success throughout his career as a salesman, regularly receiving "outstanding sales awards." Fred loved to travel, spending his retirement years visiting places such as Myrtle Beach, British Columbia, the Caribbean, Hawaii, Europe and Australia. When not travelling, Fred kept his days busy through his involvement with the Warehouse of Hope.
Despite his illness, and through his faith in God, Fred demonstrated a great appreciation for the life he lived, for the dear friends that he kept, and most importantly, for the family that was his. All visits with him were cherished and always ended with him saying, "Thanks for visiting, it means a lot - I really appreciate it."
Many thanks to the CCAC and the Para Med Care Staff, especially Debra, for all of their care and support.
