Obituary of Gaetano (Guy) Marano

MARANO, Gaetano- It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gaetano (Guy) Marano surrounded by his loving family on Friday, May 30th, 2014 at the age of 90. Beloved husband of Lucia for 64 years. Cherished father of Tony (Irene) Marano, Rose (Vince) Cantavenera, John (Julie) Marano and Angelo (Marie) Marano. Special grandfather of Angela, Christopher, Melissa, Tara, Guy, Elyse, Lucy and Angie. He will be sadly missed by his 7 great grandchildren. Fondly remembered by his brother Salvatore and his sisters Josephine and Antoinette. Predeceased by his brothers Angelo and Nicola and his sister Vincenzina. Gaetano was born on July 10th, 1923 in Licata, Sicily. He was loved by everyone who knew him. Gaetano was a very gentle and knowledgeable man. He will never be forgotten as he lives in our hearts forever. We were all very proud of him. His honesty and character were impeccable. He was truly a great husband, father and grandfather. The family wishes to extend a sincere thank you to all the staff on the fourth floor at the St. Catharines Hospital for all their care and compassion. Mr. Marano is resting at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton Street, St. Catharines. The family will receive visitors on Tuesday, June 3rd from 2-4p.m. & 7-9p.m. Vigil Prayers will take place on Tuesday at 7:30p.m. in the funeral home. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Alfred's Church, 272 Vine Street on Wednesday, June 4th at 11a.m. Entombment at Pleasantview Memorial Gardens in Fonthill to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to The Lung Association or The Heart & Stroke Foundation.
