Obituary of Thomas James Donald Smith
SMITH, Thomas "Smitty"
With his family by his side, Smitty passed away peacefully on Friday, June 13, 2014 at Meadows of Dorchester, at the age of 82. Thomas was predeceased by his wife, of 59 years, Jean (2011). Loving father of Tommy (Sandy), Nathan, Michael (Kelly), Terry (Corrine), Sharon and Marion (Tom). Cherished Papa of 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He is survived by his brothers Nathan and Robert Smith. Smitty was a proud Veteran who served in the Royal Canadian Navy from 1952-1967. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion- Branch 350. After his years of service in the navy, Smitty was employed at Domtar, retiring in 1991. Thomas enjoyed tinkering with his truck "Bessy". He will be fondly remembered by his outgoing and friendly personality. Visitation will be held at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton St. on Wednesday, June 18, 2014 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. followed by a celebration of Smitty's life in the funeral home chapel. An interment will be held at Victoria Lawn Cemetery, in the Veteran's section, on Thursday, June 19, 2014 at 10 a.m. If desired, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society.
