Obituary of Mickey Shepard

SHEPARD, Mickey With sad hearts, we announce the passing of Madeline (Mickey) Shepard, September 1, 2014, in her 98th year. Loving wife of Robert for 62 years. Cherished mother of Wayne (Beth) and Peter (Elaine), of St. Catharines and Susan Bury (Bill), of St. Eugène, Ontario. Beloved Nanny to Chris Bury (Jessica), Patrick (Enikö), Kelly, Colleen Walsh (Brian), Mike (Amanda Howell), Meaghan (Joe Lamothe), Jason (Jaycee Leonard), and Todd. Great-grandmother to Cole, Molly, Penny, Miley, Chase, and Edwin. Mickey met Bob when they both worked at CNR in Montreal. They raised their family there for 30 years before moving to St. Catharines in 1982. She was a dedicated volunteer for Fr. Dowd Home in Montreal, Girl Guides of Canada and Meals on Wheels. Mickey was a longtime parishioner and 25-year CWL member of St. Julia's Catholic Parish. Fondly missed by her church and bridge club friends. Mickey and Bob were institutions at the annual St. Patrick's Party at London Arms. She will be sorely missed by the merchants of the Pen Centre, foremost among their customers in sales - and returns! She will also be missed by the many friends met there on a daily basis. Their love for each other and their zest for life were admired by everyone who crossed their paths. Visitation will be held at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton St., St. Catharines on Thursday, September 4 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Vigil prayers will be recited on Thursday at 3 p.m. in the funeral home. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, September 5 at 11 a.m. at ST. JULIA'S CHURCH, 251 Glenridge Ave, St. Catharines. If desired, memorial donations may be made to St. Julia's Church.
