Obituary of Cyril Hammond
HAMMOND, Cyril Joseph (Cy)- 75, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 11, 2014. He is predeceased by his parents, John and Teresa, his brother Donald, and a nephew, Barry Normore. Left with precious memories are his loving wife, Regina (Conway), brothers: Vincent (Roslyn), Cambridge, ON, Bernard (Sharon) Bell Island, NL; Jerome (Suzanne), Bridgeport, On; Clyde, Cambridge, ON; sisters: Sheila (Bill) Normore and Linda (Jim) Murphy, Cambridge, ON; his sister in law Lana Hammond, Burlington, ON and many nieces and nephews. He will be dearly missed by the Conway family. Cyril was born on Bell Island, NL on July 8, 1939. He and Regina moved to St. Catharines, ON in 1966. He retired from General Motors in 1995. An avid sailor, he was a life long member of The Dalhousie Yacht Club and a member of the Upper Keys Sailing Club, Key Largo, FL. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will take place at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME, 585 Carlton Street, St. Catharines on Friday, October 17 from 6-9p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Alfred's Church, 272 Vine Street (at Carlton) at 11a.m. on Saturday, October 18. Thanks to the staff at Henley House for their care and support. Donations to The Parkinson's Society, in Cyril's memory, would be appreciated.
