Obituary of Thomas Allan McMahon

McMAHON, Thomas Allan - August 22, 1970 - October 18, 2014 It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Tom. Best friend and soul mate of Karen for 21 years. Much loved and admired father, coach, and cheerleader of Dylan, Jessica, and Conner. Tom was a respected teacher at Governor Simcoe Secondary School and very active in the SAMOR basketball program, St. Catharines Minor Baseball and Niagara Rangers Basketball. Survived by his loving father, James McMahon of St. Catharines. Tom was predeceased by his beloved mother, Mary McMahon in 2013. Tom will be lovingly remembered by his In-laws, Fred and Helen Neufeld of Vineland; and deeply missed by his brother-in-law, Mark Neufeld and his wife Kelli Nicholson of Vineland and their daughters, Avia and Isla. Tom will be greatly missed by his brother Wayne and Kathryn McMahon of Ft. Myers, FL, and their children David and Raja McMahon, and their son, Chase of San Diego, California, Karen McMahon of Kelowna, BC, and Bruce and Rachel McMahon of Ft. Myers, FL; brother Jim and Barb McMahon of St. Catharines, and their children Jim and Erin McMahon of Belleville, and their daughters Ella and Jenna, Mary - Ellen McMahon and Mike Emond of Thorold and their children, Madelynne and Callum, Jodi and Greg New of Thorold and their daughter Lauryn, Erin and Thies Taubeneck of Thorold and their children Matthew, Hailey and Aliana; brother Bob and Pam McMahon of Fort Erie, and their children Rob and Kelly McMahon of St. Catharines, Becky McMahon and Dan Jackman of Beamsville; sister, Patti and Julian Booth of Niagara Falls, and their children Lori and Kevin Stockman of Thorold and sons Braeden and Griffin, Alyson and George Campeau of St. Catharines and their children Taylor and Samantha; and sister Donna and Barry Snider of St. Catharines and their children, Carly Snider and Brandon McMillan of Hamilton, Jenny Snider and Mike Chudobiak of St. Catharines, and Kimmi Snider of St. Catharines. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will take place at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME, 585 Carlton Street, St. Catharines on Thursday, October 23 from 2-4 p.m. & 7-9 p.m. A celebration of Tom's life will be held at Bethany Community Church (1388 Third Street) at 11 a.m. on Friday, October 24. Donations made to the Tom McMahon Children's Education Fund for Tom and Karen's children, Dylan, Jessica, and Conner (made at any Scotia Bank in St. Catharines or Thorold) or Rankin Cancer Run would be appreciated by the family.
