Obituary of Joseph "Joe" Shevchik

SHEVCHIK, Joseph "Joe" Passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 23, 2014 at the age of 68. Devoted husband of Nancy (nee Groves) for 38 years. Proud father of Lisa (Jeromy) Purnell, Phillip, Andrew and Danielle Winn. Papa to Emma and Lucas. Joe is survived by his siblings, nieces, nephews, and in-laws. Predeceased by Misha and his brother Max. Joe enjoyed his work and sharing his Stelco stories. Upon his retirement, Joe could be found tending his garden and being out in the garage where he spent time doing his crosswords and keeping a watchful eye on the neighbourhood. In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton St., St. Catharines on Monday, October 27 from 8:30 - 9:30 a.m. A Memorial service will follow in the funeral home chapel at 9:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Lincoln County Humane Society or Albright Manor.
