Obituary of Walter Slack

SLACK, Walter Peacefully with the love and support of his family, Walter passed away at Heidehof Home for the Aged on Wednesday, December 24, 2014 at the age of 87. Beloved husband of almost 60 years to Joyce. Loving father of Mark (Jolene) and Jennifer (Robert) Hildebrandt. Cherished grandpa of Michael. Dear brother-in-law of Pearl Slack, Ruth Slack, Margie Wesley, Sharon Walters and Barb Boughner. Walter was predeceased by his parents Oswald and Jesse Slack and also by his brothers William and Clifford. Walter will be greatly missed by his extended family, old friends and by his new friends he made at Heidehof. Walter was a lifelong resident of St. Catharines. He was employed for 50 years at Foster Wheeler and after his retirement, Walter dedicated 18 years at Garden City Municipal Golf Course. Throughout his life, Walter enjoyed his time playing hockey, fastball and handball. He was also involved with coaching men's and girl's fastball. A special thank you to the staff at Heidehof for their care and compassionate support. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Walter's life will be held at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton St., on Saturday, January 10, 2015 at 11:30 a.m. with visitation taking place prior to the service, from 10:30-11:30 a.m. As an expression of sympathy, donations made to Heidehof Home Support would be appreciated by Walter's family.
