Obituary of Genoveffa Marsala

Marsala, Genoveffa - On Thursday January 1, 2015 at Garden City Manor at the age of 99 years. Loving mom of Pasquale "Pat" (Josephine) of St. Catharines, Josephine (Frank) Sciara of Hamilton, and Maria Rose Mule of Barrie. Beloved Nonna of 10 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Also survived by her sister and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her husband Giovanni, her sons Vincenzo and Joe, granddaughter Jennifer and her 4 brothers and 3 sisters. Born on May 1, 1915 in Siculiana, Sicily. Genoveffa was married to Giovanni for 53 years and moved to Canada in 1961 with her family. Family was very important to her and she will be sadly missed by them. The family would like to express their gratitude for the kindness and support given to our mother to the staff at Garden City Manor. Also special thanks to Dr. Luce and Fr. Nick from St. Denis Church. Family will receive friends at the George Darte Funeral Home, 585 Carlton Street on Sunday between 2-4 and 7-9pm. Vigil prayers will be said in the funeral home on Sunday at 3:30pm. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Alfred's Church, 272 Vine Street on Monday at 9:30am. Burial to follow at Westminister Cemetery,5830 Bathurst Street, Toronto, Ontario M2R 1Y6. Memorial donations may be made to Alzheimers Society in Genoveffa's honour.
