Obituary of David Maitland

MAITLAND, David - Passed away with family at his side on January 3, 2015 at age 77. David is survived by his children Lesley (Mark), Kathleen, and David (Kathy). He will be missed by his loving wife Shirley and her children Russell, Lori (Andy), Brian, and Karen (Cameron). David spent most of his working life at Hayes-Dana in Thorold. Fourteen years ago he retired to play golf, read mystery novels and spend time with his seven grandchildren. David also enjoyed travelling to his native Scotland to visit his sisters Mary and Helen. Though many of us knew him as a quiet, gentle man, in his youth David was an avid sportsman who played soccer, and enjoyed rock climbing and sailing. As a teen, he was privileged to attend the Outward Bound Moray Sea School in Aberdeen. He loved to dance. David will be greatly missed. The family will receive visitors at GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME on Thursday, January 8, 2-4 p.m and 7-9 p.m. A private memorial will be held at a later date. As an expression of sympathy, donations made to Parkinson’s Society Canada or The Salvation Army would be appreciated.
