Richard and his cousin Rudy Schellenberg were my first childhood friends in the Beamer/Atherton neighbourhood. We lost touch after high school. I had a chance encounter with Richard at a local store a couple of years ago but it was much too brief. I wish I could have known him as an adult. He was a great friend as a youngster and I am sure he was as an adult. So sad to see him go.

I have often thought of my West Park years (1979-1984). Many of my fond memories are of Mr, Lepp's geography classes. He was not just a great teacher, he took an interest in his students. He made everyone feel important.
Rest in Peace, you will be missed.
His family is in my thoughts and prayers.

Our deepest sympathies to Eric and Barb and to Betty Ann and Family on the passing of Rick. He was a wonderful friend and team mate going back to the Atherton St days. He was an exceptional athlete and a mentor for me in fastball and football. We had a great many adventures on the playing fields and around the neighbourhood. I will miss him(and his nickname and the nicknames he called me) but I will always remember him as playing a vital role in my life.

Richards passing leaves his Peterborough relatives with an emotional loss and fond memories. The bass fishing trips north of here with his many buddies, bringing the boat back from Florida with Rich as cook, joker, sports junkie and of course the many get togethers at the "White House". He was always near the kitchen and a part of the many great meals we had.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the family.

I met Rick at Rockway Golf Course over 20 years ago and became friends, travelling to Ireland, Scotland and Florida to Golf. Ricky was very positive with a great sense of humour and a great cook which was needed on our golf excursions. We normally golfed in groups but on several occasion's it was just RickyBobby (our nickname) and me, I can say it was some of the best golf times I had. We talked about anything and everything and enjoyed the early morning golf. He will be greatly missed by us early golfers and all the great people at Rockway. " Keep that train a rollin" - Jon
