Obituary of Robert "Bob" Harris

Robert (Bob) Harris, BA, MBA 1929-2015 It is with extreme sadness that we announce the passing of Bob Harris, on Sunday, March 22, devoted and beloved husband of 52 years to Agnes, father to Lisa and Jim, and extremely proud Poppa to Cameron, Max and Jake. Born and raised in St. Catharines, Bob began working at his father’s service station on Queenston Street and Richardson’s Bakery at the age of twelve. He studied Business Administration at The University of Western Ontario and McMaster University, before beginning a long and storied career with General Motors of Canada, culminating in his position as the Senior Administrator of Personnel and Chief Negotiator. Throughout his life Bob was an active member of the community, mentor, role model and teacher, having served as President of the Jaycees, and founding member of both the St. Catharines Chapter of Junior Achievement and the Niagara District Personnel Association. He shared his love of learning, business and principles having taught at both Niagara College and Brock University, and continuing to work as an HR consultant after his retirement from GM. When he finally did take time to relax, Bob enjoyed travelling, reading, spending time with his grandchildren and a good game of Bridge or Cribbage in his favourite vacation haunts of N Fort Myers, FL and Four Mile Lake. An ardent supporter of his grandson’s hockey team, he will be cheering Cameron and the IC Canadien Novices on to victory in their upcoming Championship play-offs. Bob and Agnes would like to express their gratitude to long-time family physician and friend, Dr. Preston Zuliani, Drs. Anthony Broski, Dianne Heritz, Brenda Rempel, Rocco DiPaolo and the “the girls” of Linhaven’s Convalescent wing. The family will be receiving visitors at George Darte Funeral Home in St. Catharines from 7-9 pm on Thursday, March 26 and a celebration of Bob’s life will take place in the Chapel on Friday, March 27 at 11:30 am.
