December 4, 2016,
I've just found out about John's passing.
I worked with John and Brenda at White Rose. I have so many great memories of him.
He was a favourite of everyone. He was funny, gentle and kind. Always offered a hug.
I remember when I was pregnant he talked to my belly so much that I thought Sarah would recognize his voice when she was born.
Oh, the fun we had at work and after work. The parties, baseball, watching hockey, hockey cards.
My condolences to my friend, Brenda and son, Ethan. He touched so many lives.

John,
We all miss you very much and think about you often. Hudson and Bailey went to a summer camp at a church this week. I was very happy to hear from Hudson that you're up in heaven with the angels. :) I hope that you're smiling up there knowing that everyone is doing well. We love you!!

It is with great sadness to hear of the loss of John. He was a friend of mine for many years at the factory and he was quite a stand up guy. Always stood up for what he believed in, would help you out anytime, and he was not afraid to tell you, you were wrong. I loved John. I wish we had kept in touch more but Brenda (Ethan), Kathy, Mick Jr., and Robert and I will say prayers for you and your family for many years. Like a Priest once told me "it's not goodbye, it's goodnight and I'll see you in the morning." Such beautiful words! May God Bless you Brenda and your son Ethan and be with you during your time of great sorrow. The Kiss Family (I'll never forget the fishing trip at Killbear)

John was one of my first and closest friends upon moving to Densgrove Dr. at 4 years old. We spent countless hours playing ball hockey in the Realty Park tennis courts (we were able to turn on the lights for the court whenever we wanted since someone else broke the lock off the panel…lucky for us) playing baseball, riding BMX bikes on the dirt piles while they were building houses on Silverdale Dr., playing in the creek behind my house and swimming in our pool. Pizza Delight and Avondale were the main hangouts when we needed a break from sports. John was much bigger than all of us but didn†™t push us around…too much. In high school I remember 2 of his most commonly used phrases were, †œI gotta get organized!† and as we were walking in for exams he would say frantically, †œAsk me questions, ask me questions!† Aside from disputes about his Maple Leafs and my Sabres, we had a great friendship. We lost touch after high school but hearing and reading the comments about his love for his family and storytelling ability aren†™t surprising. He was fun to be around, had a strong sense of loyalty and will be sadly missed. Thanks for being a great friend, John.

Hockey... of course!
John and his son Ethan joined us at Somebuddy's bar in Niagara Falls back in April for the annual GDX / Henniges NHL playoffs hockey pool. This is the first time Ethan, a huge Columbus Blue Jackets & Rick Nash fan and thankfully undeterred or un-influenced by his fathers love of the Toronto Maple Leafs, joined us to be a player in the pool. It was fun watching Ethan, with a huge smile on his face making his picks while rebuking or resisting his dad's suggestions. "no dad, this is my team" he would say as he would cover up his choices whenever John tried to suggest or advise Ethan on who might be a good pick. Ethan had a good time that night and John did also, sitting there smiling and laughing as he always did... proud of his son joining "the boys" for the draft... A great dad, a great guy, a big laugh, always smiling! For you only John... GO LEAFS GO!!! GO LEAFS GO!!!
