To Susan and her family
We were all so sorry to hear about the sudden death of Susan's father. Although we only knew him slightly, he must have been a wonderful person to have raised such a thoughtful, loveable daugther. COndolences to Susan, Scott and your entire family from the Ottawa MacDonalds.

I first met Gordie Oliver in the 1960's....he was courting my sister Grace....soon to be his wife. I was an impressionable 10 year old. Gordie was in the army and I thought he was pretty cool. Fifty years later my opinion has not changed. Gordie went through some pretty tough times yet managed to keep going. (He lost Grace in 1973...leaving two young daughters aged 6 years and 6 months).
He was one of those people who never seemed to change. Family was very important to Gord. He never lost touch with the Taylor family, even when it would have been so easy to. It amazed Nancy and I how he would go out of his way to visit us in Saint John...a detour that took him well out of his way. Our teenage daughters Laura and Sarah always looked forward to his visits and stories. They of course liked to tease him by calling him the "Snore Monster". I think he liked the attention!
Nancy and I can see by the tributes from his co-workers that Gordie was well liked in the Home Depot family. That does not surprise us. That was his nature.
Our condolences go out to Brenda and Susan as well as Gord's sister Cathy and brother Dale. Our lives are richer for having known him.

Gord was one of the most positive people I have ever known. All of us are positive in good times. Gord was upbeat even when fighting his most difficult battles. A great listener with insightful commentary. A friend who never kept score. Gord fought the good fight was always on your side. Greatly missed but fondly remembered. My most sincere condolences to his family and the many friends who will miss him.

Gord was a great man, he had an immense amount of life experience and very willingly shared it with everyone. He was very approachable and gave a true sense to the term "people person". Gord was all about the people, he loved to teach and help everyone he came in contact with. I will miss his war stories and hearing about his love for classic cars. But the one thing i will miss the most is Gord's joke of the day his sense of humour was second to none. RIP Gordo i will miss you :( Keep Livin' The Dream My Friend!

The sky has another bright star and angel tonight. I have worked with Gord at the Depot for the past three and a half years and have never known him to speak and find anything but positive traits and kind words about anyone. He was a true gentleman. I shared a friendship with him through his sister-in-law and a best friend. He will be greatly missed. Thinking of his family at this sad time.

I had the honor of working with Gord at Home Depot for 5 years. I left Home Depot in 2004, but Gord and I had many conversations after that in the store. He always seemed to find me when I was shopping. Gord loved his cars, that's what we usually talked about, since I had a nice Mustang that he liked. Gord loved helping people, and was so easy to talk to. He will be greatly missed.

My husband and I have had the privilege of working with Gord for the last 14 years at Home Depot. My husband has worked side by side with him in the Millwork department for 9 of those years. Gord was always the first one to want to lend a hand to someone. He would fascinate you with his stories or listen to what you had to say. He will be sadly missed. The Home Depot will not be the same without him. Please accept our sincere condolences.
