Meer words would not express my shock & sadness at seeing Teresa's obituary in the paper. We had known each other from infancy. Our parents were friends. Her father Maurice (or Moe as his friends called him) and my father Jack, were best of friends & hunting & fishing buddies. They both had known each other from childhood. Teresa and her brothers & sisters, from Maurice (junior), Joan, Joyce, Doreen, Brian, Teresa & I, all went to Power Glen School together. Teresa & I walked home from school many times together. Her father Moe had worked for a short time with my father in his plumbing & heating business. He wanted to learn plumbing & heating. He later went on to build and sell several houses. He did all his own work, from pouring basements to framing, plumbing, heating & even plastering. That man could do anything he put his hands & mind to. Many admired his talents. Some had jealous & prejudice envy (times were very different back then). Those who grew up through those times (as Teresa did).... know exactly what I mean. Maurice used to say "our people have to be at least twice as good in order to be considered close to equal". Teresa & her siblings were instilled with this. She learned to hang-in & take the bumps & hits of life & over-come! Her father Maurice, had an outstanding positive attitude and a great sense of humour. He had a way with words & was a great story teller. He could tell a story & have everybody in stitches of laughter. Of all of our families friends, he was always one of my favorite persons. Teresa obviously inherited that positive attitude & great sense of humour. She too, loved to laugh and her humour was infectious & got us all laughing. I always remember her mother Dorothy as a kind & gentle person. But she was no push-over. "Hey"...with 6 kids in the house to raise Dorothy "ruled"...and you best not get on her bad side. I never knew till I read it on here that her mother wrote poetry.
This was a part of the life & some of the things that influenced Teresa growing up & help shape who she became. Over the years I would run into Teresa or Teresa & Frank & we'd catch up on things and what place Frank was cooking at etc. . The last time I saw Teresa was about 3 years ago at the benefit shop. She was with a daughter in law. I couldn't get over how much younger she looked than her age, and added (in a whisper)....and "I" know how old you are. I asked how Frank was doing, and the kids and her brother & sisters & such. We both said that we should all get together sometime & catch up on things. But we all know how, way leads on to way, & it just doesn't happen. I guess that's why they have that old saying "life"...is what gets in the way of our plans.
"Theresa" ..you were a unique individual, there was no one else I know, that was even close to being like you. You will always be remembered with fond thoughts & a smile, never forgotten by those who were privileged to have known you, and who's lives you have touched in your own unique way.

(First and Second Cousin)
Thank you Teresa!
If no one ever said thank you....we are! You have been such a vibrant, strong Christian. You have been faithful over a few things....God will make you ruler of many things.....enter into the Kingdom of Heaven....... and as you enter there.....say hi to June, Gerald and Gooch.
You have fought the Good fight and have kept the faith.....you have been an encouragement to everyone. I will miss you coming over to look at my vegetable garden and watching my daughter Jéda swim in the pool.
Your diligent service at Zion Baptist Church, reading your mother's poems, keeping her memory alive, your laughter...
In respect to you Teresa, thank you for everything and rest assured that your husband Frank will be given all the support that I can give him, I promise to do you proud!
We love you........

To the entire family with Deepest Sympathy,
I will truly remember but sadly miss cousin Teresa's unique laughter and how it instantly brightened up any room. I can hear it, even now as I write this.
No one has the perfect words to make your sadness go away, but may you find comfort in knowing how many people wish they did.
A quote from Missionary C.T. Studd's Poem:
Only one life, yes only one
Now let me say,Thy will be done.
And when at last I'll hear the call
I know I'll say 'twas worth it all.
Only one life, 'twill soon be past
Only what's done for Christ will last.
Psalms 103:14-17
For He knows our frame; He remembers that we are dust. As for man, his days are like grass; as a flower of the field, so he flourishes. For the wind passes over it, and it is gone, and its place remembers it no more. But the mercy of the LORD is from everlasting to everlasting on those who fear Him and His righteousness to children's children.
