Obituary of Sotiris "Samuel" Sotiriou

Sotiris "Samuel" Sotiriou (1915 - 2015) - Passed away peacefully at his home with his loving family by his side on August 16. Predeceased by his beloved wife Eleni "Helen" (1977) and his 6 siblings in his beautiful home town Zemeno, Greece. Eternally treasured father to Maria; cherished Papouli to Leo (Lori) and Elena (Michael). Also survived by his sister Theophania and many loving family members. Samuel was a Sergeant for the Allied Forces in WWII prior to immigrating to Canada in 1950. He owned the Harmony Restaurant on Ontario Street, which founded the first Greek school in Niagara. Samuel was an inspirational volunteer cantor at the St. Katherine Greek Orthodox Church. He will always be remembered for his dedication to his family and faith. The family of Sam Sotiriou would like to express our deepest gratitude for all of the kindness, love and support we have received. We will be eternally thankful for the support of CCAC, and the loving care provided by the PSW's of St. Elizabeth who were Angels in our home. Family will receive friends at the George Darte Funeral Home, 585 Carlton Street on Wednesday between 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Prayers will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday at 8 pm. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated at the St. Katherine Greek Orthodox Church, 585 Niagara Street, on Thursday at 11 am with burial to follow at Victoria Lawn Cemetery. Donations can be made to the St. Katherine Greek Orthodox Church.
