Obituary of Elizabeth Anne Rothmel

ROTHMEL, Elizabeth Anne (nee MacAlpine) Passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family and friends on Saturday, September 12th at Hospice Niagara after a brief illness. Predeceased by her parents Ken and Marie MacAlpine and her son Donald. Loving mother of Allison, Karen and Robert Rothmel, cherished Grandma of Aric and Courtney Gardner and Lauren Rothmel and Great Grandma of Russia, Essen, Parker and Darcy Gardner, and Jaxon Rothmel. Much loved sister of Wayne (Stellina) and Glenn (Claire), and sister in law of Claudia. She will be missed by her many nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbours and friends. Elizabeth began her teaching career at Lakeport and BCI High Schools and enthusiastically taught and loved teaching the Gifted Program at Niagara District. She remained an active member in the community with the Shaw Festival, Book Club and the Retired Teachers of Ontario. In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place. Elizabeth's family will receive visitors at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton Street, St. Catharines on Friday, September 18th from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. A private gathering to celebrate her life with well wishes will be held at a later date for family and close friends. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Homes of Learning Development (Brantford, 519-753-5529 attn:Beryl) or Doctors Without Borders would be appreciated by the family.
