Obituary of Catherine McAvoy

MCAVOY, Catherine "Cathy" Peacefully surrounded by her family, Catherine passed away on Thursday, November 5, 2015 at the St. Catharines General Hospital, in her 72nd year. Beloved wife of 51 years of Bill. Loving mother of Susan (Bob) Bruce, Ron (Sylvie) and Chris (Shelley). Cherished Grandma of Samantha (John), Kristen (Eddie), Chelesa, Brittany, Laura, Catriona, Morgan, Sydney and Liam. Dear sister of Ian (Carol), Marion (Doug), beloved cousin Catriona, sisters-in-law Mildred Douglas and Marilyn. Catherine will also be greatly missed by many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Predeceased by her brother Ron (June) and brother-in-law Harry Douglas. A special thank you to the doctors and nurses of the St. Catharines General Hospital who cared for her. A very special thank you to Dr. Melanie Hollidge for her compassionate care and friendship. In accordance with Catherine's wishes, a private interment has taken place. Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Catherine's Life at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton Street, on Sunday, November 15, 2015 at 11:30 a.m. Prior to the ceremony, visitation will be held from 10:00-11:25 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the Canadian Diabetes Association.
