Obituary of Edith Lemery
LEMERY, Edith A.
At the age 102 of St. Catharines, Ontario, died Monday, November 24, 2015 in Niagara Gardens Retirement Manor, St. Catharines, Ontario. Edith was born January 17, 1913 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, the daughter of the late John and Anna (Howe) Shred. She was raised in Niagara-on-the-Lake where she attended schools. In October of 1931 she moved to Niagara Falls, NY where she resided the next 46 years. In October of 1978 she moved to St. Catharines, Ontario. Edith was employed for several years at the former Jenss Department Store at Mil-Pine Plaza and later at Jenss on Main Street. She and her first husband, Eugene Brown, owned and operated the former Brownies Card & Gift Shop located on Military Road Niagara falls, NY. She retired in 1978 after 17 years in the business. Her husband, Eugene, predeceased her in March of 1976. Mrs. Lemery was a member of the Niagara Falls Chapter of Moms of America (Mothers of Men in the Service) and a member of the Daughters of St. George. She was also a former member of the Redeemer Episcopal Church of Niagara Falls, NY where she sang in the choir for many years. In addition to her first husband, Eugene, Edith was predeceased by her second husband, David J. Lemery. She is survived by a son, Richard L. (Rae Ann) Brown of Winchester, VA; daughters in law Betty Brown of Fairfield, CA and Lola Brown of Ransomville, NY; 20 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren, 28 great great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her children, Allen Brown, Ena Trusello, Donald and Russell Brown, and step daughter Beverly Ann Deering; three brothers, Harvey, George, and John Shred; and a sister, Edna Brooker. Friends may call at HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, 3648 Ransomville Road, Ransomville on Friday from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 PM. Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, November 28, at 10:00 AM in the funeral home, with Deacon Patrick Bradley officiating. Burial will follow in Riverdale Cemetery, Lewiston. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Roswell Park Cancer Institute, PO Box 631, Buffalo, NY 14240-9856 or to the American Diabetes Assoc., WNY Chapter, 315 Alberta Dr., Amherst, NY 14226
