Obituary of Darrell (Big D) Moore

MOORE, Darrell(Big D) - Passed away with his loving wife by his side on Tuesday, January 12th, 2016 at the Hotel Dieu Shaver Hospital at the age of 60. Beloved husband of Linda for 34 years. Cherished father of Bryon, Jon and Adam. Loving Gramps of Samuel, Portia and Natalia. Special brother of Don (Linda), Deborah (Andy), Melinda (Ben), Ann Marie and John. Step son of Mary-Lynn. Nephew of Uncle Gary and Aunt Jeannette. Cousin of Syndee (Danny), Sandra and Leigh - Anne. He is predeceased by his parents Joan and Donald Moore and his nephew Corey Moore. Darrell is survived by his mother in law Joan Shergold and sister in laws Gail Holmes and Terry Jane Shergold. Big D was a lacrosse coach who loved fishing, cooking and the Boston Bruins. He was actively involved as a coach for St. Catharines Minor Lacrosse and the Spartans Junior B as well as an advisor for Junior Achievement of Niagara. Cremation has taken place. The family will receive visitors at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton Street, St. Catharines on Thursday, January 14th from 2-4p.m. & 7-9p.m. A Celebration of Big D's Life will take place on Friday, January 15th at 1 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Memorial donations to Hotel Dieu - Shaver Foundation or a Charity of Choice would be appreciated by the family.
