Obituary of Irene A. Bacon
BACON, Irene Anneetta (Gray)
November 8, 1925 - January 4, 2011
At 2:10 p.m., surrounded by her children, who love and adore her, Irene Bacon 'up and left' for Heaven, where she will join her husband, Donald Ernest Bacon, who has been waiting almost 23 years, (January 14, 1988) to be reunited with the love of his life. Together they raised seven children and loved every one of them dearly. Irene was a phenomenal mother - she loved us, protected us, defended us, kept our secrets and gave of herself endlessly in every way - to her children, her grandchildren and her great grandchildren, and to all people Irene's love shone upon. A beautiful, beautiful woman who lived every day of her life with courage and class, and left this life with grace and dignity.
Irene was one of seven girls and predeceased by her dear sisters, Marge, Lena and Andree. She is survived by her children Danny, Donnie (Marlene), David (Julie), Dean, Diane (Kirk Davies), Dawna and Douglas. Also survived by her loving sisters Lili, Alice and Dorothy and many nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved greatly.
Irene is resting at the George Darte Funeral Chapel, 585 Carlton St. St.Catharines.Visiting hours will be held from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m. on Friday Jan 7, 2011. The funeral mass will be celebrated at the Cathedral of St. Catharine of Alexandria on Saturday January 8, 2011 at 1 p.m. with cremation to follow. Vigil prayers will be said in the funeral home on Friday at 3:30 p.m. Memorial remembrances made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
