Obituary of Rita Helen Bourgeois (nee Legault)

Bourgeois, Rita (née Legault) - Surrounded by her loving family, she passed away March 3rd, 2016 at the age of 76 years at the St. Catharines General Hospital. Predeceased by her parents Raoul and Yvette Legault (née Caron). Beloved wife of Germain Bourgeois. Devoted mother of Gisèle, Louise (Paul Ménard) and Pierre (Geneviève Potvin). Sadly missed by her grandchildren, Zakia (Jeremy Bourgis) and Zoé. Fondly remembered by her sister Jeannine (Paul Simon) and brother Robert (Shirley Legault). Born on May 16th 1939 and raised in Sudbury, Rita graduated from Teachers College at the University of Ottawa. She taught in Sudbury at St-Rémi, St-Jérôme and St-Dominique schools; in Oshawa at Corpus-Christi and in the Niagara region at St-Joseph, Notre-Dame-de-la-Jeunesse and Sacré-Coeur. She enjoyed singing in the church choir at Paroisse Immacculée-Conception, baking a decadent carrot cake with caramel sauce and taking on many arts and crafts projects at which she excelled. The family will receive friends at Paroisse Immaculée-Conception, St. Catharines, 99 Garnet Street, on Saturday, March 12, 2016 between 10 am - 11 am with Funeral Liturgy starting at 11 am. Cremation has taken place. Private family burial will take place at a later date. Donations to Alzheimer Society Niagara Foundation would be appreciated (cheques only). Épouse de Germain Bourgeois, elle laisse dans le deuil ses enfants, Gisèle, Louise (Paul Ménard), Pierre (Geneviève Potvin), sa sœur Jeannine (Paul Simon), son frère Robert (Shirley Legault) et ses petits-enfants, Zakia (Jeremy Bourgis) et Zoé. Native de Sudbury, elle a complété l'École normale à l'Université d'Ottawa et a enseigné dans les écoles catholiques, notamment St-Rémi, St-Jérôme et St-Dominique (Sudbury), Corpus-Christi (Oshawa) et St-Joseph, Notre-Dame-de-la-Jeunesse et Sacré-Cœur (région du Niagara). Elle aimait chanter dans la chorale de la Paroisse Immaculée-Conception à St-Catharines, confectionner un gâteau aux carottes avec une sauce caramel bon à s'en lécher les doigts et entreprendre toutes sortes de projets d'artisanat. La famille recevra les amis à la Paroisse Immaculée-Conception, 99, rue Garnet à St-Catharines, le samedi 12 mars 2016 à compté de 10 h. La messe funéraire suivra à 11 h.
