Obituary of Irene Primmer
PRIMMER, Irene (nee McEvoy)
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Irene Primmer, who died peacefully on Monday, March 14, 2016, in her 90th year. Irene has been reunited with her beloved husband of 56 years, Kenneth (2009). She will always be loved and remembered by her children Terri (Derrill) McLennan-MacDonald, Helen (Lorne) Dueck and Michael (Lilly) Primmer. Cherished Nana of Andrew Primmer, Josh Primmer and Mark MacDonald. She will also be missed by her niece and nephew, Patricia Munce and Brian McAllister. Irene was predeceased by her dear sister Peggy McAllister, her brother Kevin McEvoy and by her grandson Adam MacDonald. Born and raised in Liverpool, England, Irene was a nurse during WWII, where she met the love of her life, Ken (who was a member of the Royal Air Force). Irene and her family moved to Montreal from England in 1957, and eventually settled in St. Catharines in 1965. Her gentle spirit and kind heartedness led her to help many families through her work with family services. Mom will be forever remembered for her strength, indomitable spirit, quick wit and her infectious smile. Irene's great passion was playing the piano and singing in the church choir. A special thank you to the team at Tabor Manor who all lovingly cared for mom. Irene's family will receive family and friends at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton Street, St. Catharines, on Thursday, March 17, 2016 from 6:30 - 9:00 p.m. A Funeral Service celebrating Irene's life will be held at Christ Lutheran Church, 140 Russell Ave. St. Catharines, on Friday, March 18, 2016 at 11 a.m., with an hour of visitation taking place prior to the service from 10:00 - 10:45 a.m. Burial to follow the ceremony, at Victoria Lawn Cemetery.
