Obituary of Nicola Monterosso

MONTEROSSO, Nicola - (1933-2016) Surrounded by his loving family, Nicola embarked on his final journey into eternal life. He is survived by his adoring wife, Francesca LaGrotteria Monterosso, his beloved children Teresa (Bill), Tony (Lucy) and Luciano, by his grandchildren Corina (Mike), Anthony, Dana, James, Cory, Brianna, by his great - granddaughter Isabella, by his siblings in Italy Maria, Santo and Pino, in-laws Angelo, Ida, Nazzarena, numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. As an immigrant from Italy, Nicola fought hard to ensure the well being of his family and he continued to be primarily concerned to the end with his wife and family despite his personal struggle with cancer. In his words: "Questo è un memorandum di una vita dedicata ad una donna molto meritata. Amato come una rosa che cresce in giardino, da una famiglia così adorata, ringrazio a tutti voi presenti e spero che si mantenga questa fratellanza."Our sincere thanks to the staff at the Critical Care Unit at the St. Catharines General Hospital. Nick's family will receive visitors at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton Street, St. Catharines on Thursday, June 23rd from 2-4p.m and 7-9p.m. Vigil Prayers will be recited in the funeral home on Thursday at 3:30p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, June 24th at St. Alfred's Catholic Church, 272 Vine Street at 11a.m. Entombment following in Pleasantview Memorial Gardens, Fonthill. If desired, memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Lung Association would be appreciated by the family.
