Obituary of Andrea Accardo

ACCARDO, Andrea Passed away with his family by his side on Tuesday, August 9th at the age of 93. Predeceased by his cherished wife Bartolomea. Loving father of Louise (the late John) Bravetti and Rose (Joe) Ippolito. Cherished Nonno of Melanie (Jeff) Contini, David (Mary) Bravetti, Lauren, Evan and Kara Ippolito. Great grandfather of Giovann and Gavin Contini and Gianna and John Bravetti. Special brother of Margherita (the late Vincenzo) Stabile, the late Anna (the late Mario) Cascio, the late Pietro (Rosa) Accardo, and the late Francesca (the late Giuseppe) Fontana. Special brother in law of Carlo (Connie) Maltese, Antonina (the late Pietro) Maltese, the late Vita (the late Nicola) Fasulo and the late Francesca Maltese. Andrea immigrated to Windsor, Ontario with his family in 1955 from Sicily. He moved to St. Catharines in 1966 and founded the Welland Avenue Car Wash with his brother in law Nicola Fasulo. He was a very driven, hard working man whose passion was gardening. The family extends sincere thanks to the staff of Henley House (Centennial Park) for their care and compassion over the past year. Mr. Accardo's family will receive visitors at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton Street, St. Catharines on Thursday, August 11th from 4-8pm. A Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at St. Alfred's Catholic Church, 272 Vine Street, St. Catharines on Friday, August 12th at 11am. Entombment following in Victoria Lawn Cemetery. Vigil Prayers will be recited in the funeral home on Thursday at 5:30pm. If desired, memorial donations to the St. Catharines General Hospital would be appreciated by the family.
