Obituary of Maria Aniela Romanowski
ROMANOWSKI, Maria Aniela - Passed away on Thursday, October 6th, 2016 at St. Peter's Hospital in Hamilton in her 96th year. Beloved wife of the late Andrzej. Cherished mother of Frances Romanowski and Joseph (Val) Romanowski. Loving Babcia of Michael (Lynn) Kielbasa, Dana (Les) Badzioch, David (Amira) Romanowski and the late Trisha (Jason) Allinotte. Babcia Ski was the great grandmother and Pierogi Maker to Allison, Rachel, Daniel, Kirsten, Zaki and Zane. Her favourite phrase was "You no eat, you no grow". Much loved aunt of Basia Kedzierski, as well as to many nieces and nephews in Canada and Poland. Maria was a volunteer at the Polish Legion - Branch 418, the Polish Hall on Facer Street, as well as being very active at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, as a member of The Rosary Ladies Society. When living with her daughter, she helped CWL Members at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church to perfect her famous “Babka.” The family will receive visitors at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton Street, St. Catharines on Sunday, October 9th from 2-4p.m. & 7-9p.m. Vigil Prayers will take place on Sunday at 8p.m. in the funeral home. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 5 Oblate Street on Monday, October 10th at 10a.m. Burial at Victoria Lawn Cemetery on Tuesday. Memorial donations to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church or the Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family. "Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free. I'm following the path God laid for me. I took his hand when I heard Him call; I turned my back and left it all. I could not stay another day, to laugh, to love, to work or play. Tasks left undone must stay that way; I found that place at the close of day. If my parting has left a void, then fill it with remembered joy. A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss; ah yes, these things, I too will miss. Be not burdened with times of sorrow. I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow. My life's been full, I savored much; good friends, good times, a loved one's touch. Perhaps my time seems all too brief; don't lengthen it now with undue grief. Lift up your heart and share with me, God wanted me now, He sets me free."
