Obituary of Corey Michael Mijac

Mijac, Corey Michael - It is with profound sadness that we announce Corey’s sudden passing on October 16, 2016 at the age of 18. He will be sadly missed by his cherished mother Luba (nee Kocian); his devoted father Wayne and loving step mother Michele. His beloved sisters Olivia Potter (Nic Schoerie), Paula (Derek) Reile, Andrea (Adam) Borg. Will be fondly remembered by his nieces and nephews Alexander, Lily, Emma, Nathan, and Adrian; his Granny Doreen; Grandparents Don and Vera Kocian; his uncle Dan (Vera) Kocian and their daughter Erica; and his beautiful girlfriend Jami Godin. Corey is also survived by so many loving family members and friends who loved, cherished, and adored him. Predeceased by his grandfather Velimir and great grandmother Stefania Kocian. He will be greatly missed by his dog Hershey. Corey’s passion was aviation and he had been flying since the age of 15. He was a student at the Niagara District Flying Club, and was in his first year at Brock University. He was also an amazing goalie and an avid Montreal Canadiens fan. His network of friends was substantial leaving his mark on thousands. There are no words that could express the pain of losing Corey. Truly one of a kind and an amazing young man who accomplished so many of his dreams at a young age. Family and friends will be received at the George Darte Funeral Home, 585 Carlton Street on Tuesday October 25 between 4 - 9 pm. Cremation has taken place. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday October 26 at 11 am at the funeral home. Private family burial will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider donations to Rankin Cancer Run in Corey's honour.
