Obituary of Edmund Dervaitis

Edmund (Ed) Joseph Dervaitis, 74, of St. Catharines, passed away peacefully on November 9, 2016 in Vilnius, Lithuania. Ed is predeceased by his parents, Jonas and Kunigunda Dervaitis, and survived by his loving partner Rima, sister Donna, and wife of 21 years and mother of his children, Lucy Belvedere. He was the proud father of Kristina (Barry Atack), Daniel (Rena Al-Samedi), Amanda (Matt Cassan), and Rebecca (Tim Loch), and loving grandfather to Emmett, Sophie, Frasier, Leah, and Frederick. He leaves behind more beloved family in Lithuania, and in particular, Inga (Tadas), Diamante and Gabriella. The original "Mr. D." will be best remembered teaching math at Dennis Morris High School in St. Catharines for many years. He left a lasting impression on many of his students, and was well known for his sarcastic sense of humour. In retirement, Ed spent his time between Canada and Lithuania, and travelling to other countries as often as he could, including tropical destinations to work on his tan. Visitation will be held at GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME in St. Catharines on Tuesday, November 22nd, from 7 pm to 9 pm. Mass and burial of his ashes will take place at Lithuanian Martyrs' Cemetery (Anapilis Community Centre, 2185 Stavebank Road, Misissauga) on Wednesday, November 23rd, 10:00 am. Lunch reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, a donation made in his memory to Breathe (The Canadian Lung Association) would be appreciated.
