Obituary of David Latimer

LATIMER, Donald David   It is with much sadness, the family announces the passing of Donald David Latimer at the age of 86 at the T. Roy Adams Centre for Dementia Care on Saturday, November 19, 2016. Born in Kingston, Ontario, Dave moved to St. Catharines in 1954. He cherished his 59 years of marriage to his wife Helen (nee Walsh). Dear Father of Cathy, Nancy (Richard) Halinda and Michael and proud Papa of Jennifer and Carolyn Halinda, all of whom he loved looking after. Loving Brother to sister Patricia and predeceased by sister Shirley and brother Charlie. Survived by a number of nieces and nephews who will remember Uncle Dave’s love for life. He is predeceased by his parents Wilbert and Katherine (nee McKegney). David‎ became owner of Kernahan and Graves Insurance Brokers and developed many friends and associates through business over the years. He is a proud ‎member of St. Mary of the Assumption Church. ‎David played a brief stint of professional hockey in his younger days. He also enjoyed many years of great times golfing and curling with his friends at the St. Catharines and Lookout Golf Clubs and St. Catharines and Grantham Curling Clubs. He was a master of the crossword puzzle. Special thank you to the  wonderful  staff of the T. Roy Adams Centre for Dementia Care  for the love and compassion that they showed David and his family during his difficult stay there.‎ In accordance with David's wishes, cremation has taken place. The family will receive friends at GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton St., on Wednesday, Nov 23, 2016 from 3-7 p.m. A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Mary of the  Assumption Church, 169 St. Paul Circle  on Thursday, Nov 24, 2016 at 11 a.m.  A private family Inurnment will take place at a later date. If desired, donations can be made to the T. Roy Adams Centre for Dementia Care or  St. Mary of the Assumption Church.
