Obituary of Elizabeth Denhollander

Denhollander, Elizabeth "Betty" Passed away in the presence of those who loved her dearly in her 89th year. Loving mother of Eileen van Laar and Robert (Lauren). Cherished Oma of Ryan (Laura) Haanappel, Daniel (Danielle) Haanappel, Kevin,Cameron,Charlotte and Hannah. Predeceased by her devoted husband Dick of 43 years and her children Marcel, Helen, Ronny and Charlene. Predeceased by 4 siblings, survived by 6 siblings and loved by all. Betty lived her life in the service of others with quiet humility. She volunteered tirelessly for Out of the Cold, Ozanam and Warehouse of Hope. Friends will be received at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton Street on Sunday, November 27, 2016 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm with Vigil prayers at 3 pm. Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, November 28, 2016 at St. Alfred’s Church, 272 Vine St., at 11:00 am with interment at Victoria Lawn Cemetery to follow. Memorial donations may be made to the Warehouse of Hope or to a charity of choice. You can shed tears that she is gone, or you can smile because she lived. You can close your eyes and pray that she will come back, or you can open your eyes and see all that she has left. Your heart can be empty because you can't see her or you can be full of the love that you shared. You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday, or you can be happy tomorrow because of yesterday. You can remember only that she is gone, or you can cherish her memory and let it live on. You can cry and close your mind, be empty and turn your back, or you can do what she would want; smile, open your eyes, love and go on.
