Rose is predeceased by her beloved husband Peter, parents David and Elizabeth and her six siblings Sarah, Dave, Liz, Reub, Vicky and Joe. Growing up in wartime England, Rose survived many hardships including rationing, bombing and the loss of neighbours during the London Blitz. This time helped to forge strong family ties that were never broken. No matter what family came first. Rose was a trailblazer. She came to Canada from London, England in 1957 with her young daughter looking for a better life. They settled in the Ottawa area with her brother and his family. After many trials and tribulations Rose established herself as a successful bookkeeper at several accounting firms in Ottawa and later Toronto where she worked until she and Peter retired and moved to the Niagara region. Rose loved her family very much and looked forward to spending time with them whenever she could. She took pleasure in her garden, knitting and reading a good book. Trips to visit family "back home," the theatre, shows and vineyard tours were a must. Her strength, wisdom, guidance and support will be sadly missed The family wishes to extend a sincere thank you to all of the staff at Henley House - Montebello Place for all of their care and compassion. Visitation will take place at the George Darte Funeral Chapel, 585 Carlton Street, St. Catharines on Tuesday, December 20th from 1:30 - 4pm. The funeral will be held in England where she will be laid to rest with her beloved husband Peter. Donations made to the Alzheimer Society or the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
