Obituary of Chester Abramek

ABRAMEK, Chester On Tuesday, October 18th, 2011 at the GNG Hospital, Niagara Falls at the age of 77, after suffering a debilitating stroke. Beloved husband and soulmate of Barbara for over 52 years. Devoted and loving father and father-in-law of Joanne and Denis Dyack. Dear brother and brother-in-law of Helen and Bill Kozub of Delhi, ON and brother-in-law of Wendy Szymski. Fondly remembered by his niece Catherine and her husband Timothy Nugent and children Austin and Sydney of Wisconsin and nephew Christopher Kozub and Partner Lori Chisholm of Brantford. Chester was a retired (43 years) General Motors Skilled Trades Patternmaker and a member of CAW Local 199. Chester was a generous supporter to many charitable groups in this community. He was a member of St. Julia Church, an usher and greeter at Saturday 5pm Mass, and a member of the St. Catharines General Hospital Auxiliary Bingo Committee. Special thanks to Dr. Chew, Dr. Al-Jarrah, Marie Rusnak, Charge Nurse Isabelle Stewart and all the amazing and hard working nurses on Unit D-GNGH for their kind and compassionate care. Mr. Abramek's family will receive family and friends at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton Street, St. Catharines, ON on Friday, October 21st from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. The Funeral Mass will celebrated at St. Julia Church, 251 Glenridge Avenue on Saturday, October 22nd at 11am. Vigil Prayers will be recited in the funeral home on Friday at 3pm. In accordance with his wishes, cremation will follow the service with a private inurnment at Victoria Lawn Cemetery Mausoleum at a later date. If desired, memorial donations to the St. Catharines General Hospital Auxiliary Memorial Fund or to Community Care-Special Needs, would be appreciated by the family. A heart of gold stopped beating, Hard working hands at rest, God broke our hearts to prove to us, He only takes the best. The leaves and flowers may wither, The golden sun may set, But the hearts that loved him so dearly, Are the ones that won't forget.
