Obituary of John (Jack) Morrison

MORRISON, John (Jack) Passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 17, 2016 at the age of 88. Beloved husband of his sweetheart, Josephine, for 66 years. Loving father of the late Robert (Bob), Janice (the late Dennis) Benvenuto and Jim (Trish). Cherished grandpa of Matthew Benvenuto, Christine (Darryl) Dionne and William Morrison. Proud Papa of Norah & Evelyn Dionne. Jack will also be fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Predeceased by his sisters Margaret Elmer and Elizabeth (Betty) Hishon. Jack retired from Ontario Hydro after 38 years of service, spending most of his years at the Decew Falls Generating Station. Jack was born and raised in the West End of St. Catharines and was a proud Western Hill boy. He was a longtime parishioner of St. Mary of the Assumption Church. Jack enjoyed sports, especially the Maple Leafs, Blue Jays, the Toronto Argos and in his younger years was active in CYO coaching hockey for St. Mary's. He had a lifelong passion for curling, both playing and watching with his wife Josephine. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Dr. Rhonda Collins and the staff at the Meadows of Dorchester for their care and compassion. Family and friends will be received at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton St., St. Catharines on Tuesday, December 20 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Vigil prayers will be recited in the funeral home on Tuesday at 3:45 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 169 St. Paul Crescent, St. Catharines, on Wednesday, December 21 at 10 a.m. Rite of Committal will follow at Victoria Lawn Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society or to St. Mary's Parish.
