Obituary of Gloria Lorine Johnston
Johnston, Gloria Lorine (nee Peters) - passed away peacefully on December 24, 2016, in her 94th year at the St. Catharines Hospital. Gloria was the wife, companion and best friend of her husband Colin. A loving wife who leaves behind a family who cherished every moment they had with her. Left with love and memories are her children Roger (Eileen), Linda (Terry) Grant , Colin ( Ruth), and Susan (Bernie) Barwell. Gloria is the proud grandmother of 12 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Predeceased by her parents Arthur (Lillian), sister Gwendolyn, loving daughter Jill and dear grand daughter Virginia.
Gloria was a longtime resident of Port Dalhousie. She worked with her husband at Colin E. Johnston Insurance. She was a past president of the Port Dalhousie Lioness Club, a member of the Dalhousie Yacht Club, member of the May Court Club and a lifetime member of St. John’s Anglican Church. Gloria in her generous and loving ways touched many lives and was loved and respected by many.
The family would like to thank Dr. James Henry and his staff, the wonderful and loving care givers of Para Med and CCAC., the emergency doctors and nurses and the doctors and nurses of 4A of the St. Catharines General Hospital. The family would also like to thank Gloria’s neighbours for all of the kindness and care that they gave to her while she lived in her condo unit at Westlake Lane.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday January 15, 2017 at 2 pm at St. John’s Anglican Church, 80 Main Street, Port Dalhousie followed by a reception at the church. Visiting will start at 1 pm until time of service at the church. Cremation has taken place and a private family burial will be held at a later date. Arrangements are entrusted to the George Darte Funeral Home, 905-937-4444.
If desired, a donation in memory of Gloria may be made to the CNIB or St. John’s Anglican Church.
