We were so sad to hear about Penny. Verdin and Don loved her so, and we got to know Penny through her parents who were our next door neighbours in Sarnia. Sadly we had lost touch with Penny, although we did speak to her a couple of times when she first moved To St. Catherine's. Penny always spoke so well of Cousin David, and friend Mary, and families. Verdun became our second mom after Don died. Know our hearts reach out to Penny's family and friends. We have many fond memories to cherish. We regret that we were unable to attend Penny's celebration of life. Sincere condolences.

Penny and I were great pals in Grade 8 at Johnson Memorial School, Sarnia, 1957-1958. I got to know her wonderful parents, too, and I especially remember her (fun) mother who had amazing red hair and couldn't wait for it to turn gray so she could start wearing pink and red! Penny and I played badminton every Saturday morning at the Y during the winter months, and always had fun. After Grade 8 we went on to different high schools and our friendship was essentially over, sadly.
Too bad. Bless her.

My wife, Joan, and I were very saddened to hear the news of Penny's passing.
Penny was a great observer of life around the golf course pond, and we would have chats to discuss the latest 'pond news.' Every year we would watch for the return of the solitary blue heron who would regularly visit the pond over the summer months, and share anxious moments when it didn't return by a certain date. But inevitably the majestic bird would show up and we could see the look of relief on each other's face.
She was always interested in our doings, and the state of Joan's health.
I will miss Penny and relay the sad news to the Heron in the spring.
