Dave Claus was one of my teenage best friends along with Mike Widdicombe & earlier Phil Krafve & Michael Curry. Now three, though younger have passed into eternity before me…. I have many special memories of riding bikes together, driving cars, trying out a '56 Ford for Dave to know whether he should buy it or not…..he didn't. Remembering both Dave & Mike being baptized on confession of their faith in Christ, in Lake Ontario at Jones Beach. Being hosted on many occasions at the Claus home 666 Geneva Street was always a blessing…. quite a ride by bike from 51 Glengarry Road. Though our paths seldom crossed in later years yet it is a friendship I cherish and for which I thank the Lord! Praying his mother Ruth, his brothers John, and Gary know the comfort that only our Lord Jesus Christ can provide.I didn't have the privilege of knowing his children or his grandchildren but pray that they may know God's mercy, grace and special comfort in their loss of this very special father, grandfather and friend! I only learned of his death today, thus the belated condolences. Because of Christ, Ted & Marie Searle

We were so sorry to hear this news. We send our love your way and trust your happy memories of times together will bring comfort to each of you. We value the Claus family as special friends. Ruth and Carleton showed such kindness to my mother (My mother spoke of Ruth as her best friend) as well as to us through the years - which was so much appreciated. John and Gary were friends of my brother Paul, and while we were not as close to David, we were always interested in him as part of this kind family who meant so much to us. May You sense God's presence with you at this difficult time.

So very sad to read of Dave's passing. Through the years working at Bell I would occassionally receive a call from Dave asking if I could confirm information for him. Always a pleasure to talk to him. My thoughts are with his family at this very sad time.

Dave was a great guy, always talking about the love he had for Ryan, Carrie and his family. His boat, motorcycle, being at Port, sunsets and thunder storms were his passion. He would share boat and motorcycle stories, leaving Port this past summer in a hurry forgetting his helmet. His family and friends shared a coffee with him and Tom for the send off before their big trip last winter. His trip with Tom in the motor home was a great adventure travelling across USA to Texas and California, talking with people and stopping for coffee at McDonalds along the way. Daily he would meet his friends and John for coffee, read the Toronto Sun, put on his Claus hearing while deep in thought working on Sudoku. He had an amazing sense of humour, kind heart, gentle spirit and will be missed by all who's lives he touched and knew him. Rest in peace, my friend.
