Obituary of Dorothy Logan

LOGAN, Dorothy Georgina (nee Godfrey) REQUIESCAT IN PACE 1918-2011 It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden and peaceful passing of our mother, Dorothy, on October 10, 2011. Beloved wife of the late William Logan (1976). Proud mother of Tom (Janet Elliott), Doug (Pat), grandmother of Shannon (John) Wiggins, Bill, Chris and Patrick. Great grandmother of Jordan, Brooklyn, Madyson, Kassidy Wiggins, Zoe Logan-Thorndale. Also survived by her cherished sister-in-law, Dottie Godfrey, and nephews John (Marsha) and Robert. Predeceased by her brother Jack and daughter-in-law Jill. Dorothy was a stay at home mom until asked, in 1962, by her well known milliner mother, Helena Godfrey, to take the reins of her St. Catharines women's retail institution - The Godfrey Shop. Yes, fashionable women wore hats... lots of them! Dorothy and Bill moved from St. Catharines, initially to Windsor then to Burlington, where they remained until dad's death in 1976. Then the St. Catharines girl moved home. Dedication to family, her outstanding collection of treasured life-long friends and her faith were the hallmarks of her enduring character. The family wishes to extend its sincere appreciation to Dorothy's caregivers at St. Catharines Place and Albright Manor. Family and friends will be received at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton Street on Thursday October 13 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Vigil prayers will be held at 3 p.m. in the funeral home. Funeral Liturgy will be held at St. Julia Roman Catholic Church on Friday at 10 a.m. with rite of committal to follow at Victoria Lawn Cemetery. If so desired, donations made to the Walker Family Cancer Centre would be appreciated by her family.
